I’ve been a guide for over 7 years, currently residing in Cairns, I have fished all over Australia from Giant black marlin to walking creeks spinning for bass and trout! I came from NSW where Cod and Jewies were my bread and butter, both epic in the own right, but simply not Barramundi, I had an itch that needed to be scratched. packing everything in the car and heading north its a decision ill never regret. The Tropical rainforests I get to call my office never cease to amaze me. Everyday holds something New and the pursuit For barra is an endless quest. They fight hard, their cunning, and they often spend more time out of the water than what they do in the water, a true Aussie ICON. I love putting guests onto fish watching peoples faces light up, but my energy and enthusiasm often overseas theirs as I’m often so excited for them with the effort they have put in. I love multi day charters as I get to build life long friendships and educate and present all I have to offer, always leaving my guests as better anglers then when they first arrived. Whether its snag bashing the creeks for numbers of fish, or working Tinaroo dam for GIANTS. I love it all, currently writing this, June 2025. we have put 80 + meter barra in the boat this year and 10 OVER 120cm!! 3 of which were guests FIRST EVER BARRA! insane. being part of experiences like this are nothing short of special and I hope to fish with you! and make some memories well laugh at and enjoy for years to come. cheers”

Here at Tropic Barra Adventures we work with the highest integrity and passion to see results! Whatever your target species within our estuarine and river systems on offer, we’ll make it our mark to put you on the fish!
With the ability to operate from the Daintree river, all the way to hinchinbrook, we can accommodate to any of the systems in between! Cairns, Port Douglas, Daintree, Mission beach through to Lake Tinaroo.
We often travel just outside of cairns itself for remote fishing action and stunning rainforest scenery all to yourself! very rarely do we see another boat for the whole day!
With lots of species being regular encounters such as, Barramundi, mangrove Jack, Sootie grunter, Queen fish, Threadfin, Jungle Perch, Tarpon, Giant trevally and Finger mark, There’s rarely a dull moment on our charters with high number of fish capture days a common occurrence and we are always in pursuit of the illusive 1 meter plus barramundi.
We have 3 vessels prepared for our clients with a maximum capacity of 8 anglers.

A lot of our fishing incurs sight casting and top water fishing for barramundi, fishing in tight snaggy country, creating some very exciting and white knuckled fishing. All our fishing is partaking in lure sportsfishing. With the help of your new guide captain Brodie Quaas and his extensive fishing knowledge and unique approach, your bound to pick up new tips and styles in your own approach to barramundi fishing.
For those looking to grab a feed of mud crabs, upon clients requests we always have the option to drop a few pots in, while we’re fishing the crab traps might as well be soaking!
Every charter is entitled to lots of hours worth of on water fishing time and, all the gear and tackle supplied, lunch and drinks included.
We provide pick up and drop off to your accommodation for single day charters, Or if you have booked a Multi day adventure or TINAROO MADNESS charter, airport pick up and accommodation drop off can be arranged.

We have 3 vessels built specifically for barra fishing!
with an elite fleet of vessels, we have boats capable and comfortable for all our guests ready to take you where no other boat can go!
VESSEL 1 – 188cc Edgewater centre console, built for comfort equiped with all the latest tech and a 150hp Yammy, you will get to your locations fast! and in style this is our newest and most elite vessel.
VESSEL 2 – “THE SWAMP DONKEY” this is a wide built stesco Saratoga that is 4.6m in length capable of up to 3 guests and only draws 0.3m of water our staple vessel and extremely comfortable and fun to fish from. This boat accounted for 136meter barramundi in the 2023 season!
VESSEL 3- taking you where no one else can go our custom built 435 hornet trophy is the vessel takes you to some of the most unbelievable and breath taking locations you will ever see. comfortable with 2 guests, this boat makes fishing a breeze!
all our vessels are equiped with the latest in sounder technology, live scope, 360 sonars and traditional side scan our boats are equiped with the latest and the best to give us the most tactical advantage at finding and putting you onto fish!
